Content Distribution

Content distribution so good work gets read

Publishing is half the job. Distribution is the other half: putting a finished guide, report or study in front of the readers it was written for, wherever they already are.

Great content, published and then forgotten

Teams invest weeks in a report or guide, publish it, share it once on social media and move on. A few hundred people see it, mostly colleagues and existing followers.

The audiences who would benefit most read specific newsletters, communities and publications that you have no relationship with.

What happens if it stays that way

  • Low return on your best content investments.
  • Insights your sales team could use never reach prospects.
  • Content that deserves mentions and links is never seen by the people who would give them.

A channel plan for each piece

For each piece we identify the channels its audience uses: niche newsletters, publisher sites that run partner content, syndication partners and communities where sharing is welcome.

Paid channels are disclosed according to each channel's rules, links carry UTM parameters, and you receive a report listing every placement and where to find the visits in your analytics.

Content Distribution: questions and answers

Is distribution the same as syndication?
Syndication is one channel: republishing your content on partner sites, with a link back to the original. Distribution also covers newsletters, partner content and summaries that link to the original.
Will republished copies hurt my search visibility?
A syndicated copy can compete with your original in search. Google's current documentation says the most effective solution is for partners to block indexing of the copy, so we ask syndication partners to use noindex and to link back to your original. Read more on our technical SEO blog.
What content works best?
Original research, practical guides and tools. Promotional pages rarely work in distribution.
Can I set a budget per channel?
Yes. The channel plan lists costs so you can choose what to approve.
